I don't have any photos....bummer! BUT I just had to share. For those of you who have husbands or sons that subscribe to Truckin' Magazine our business and two of our employees are featured in the February 2011 issue. Exciting to say the least!
Beginning on page 62 is the article and the photos. The truck's name is 'Spanish Fly'. Our shop, Tech Auto Body (even tho it is slightly misspelled) is mentioned. The painter of the truck and one of our body/refinish guys, Jason Lekvold, is given credit for the paint job.
Lekvold started as an apprentice at our shop some 6 or 7 years ago. He's been a childhood friend of our son, Jason, since grade school. Our Jason worked for us as our main painter for over 10 years. He taught Lekvold pretty much all he knows and Lekvold ran with it. Jason helped Lekvold do some customizing to his truck right after graduation from high school. It is just a plain proud moment to see him come full circle like this.
Another of our technicians, more still in the beginner helper stages, Fabian Zepeda, is given credit for the airbrush work. I'm not fond of the picture he chose to paint, but it is great artwork and it is a gift to be able to airbrush like that. Last year, Fabian was in high school. He job shadowed at our shop because he wanted to learn about auto body work. When the magazine came out, he took a copy to his high school counselor, she cried. We aren't sure if she cried because he's made a name for himself and she didn't think he would amount to much or what (we used Fabian's thank-you letter to Dave after his job shadowing experience as an editing class at home. It was awful LOL). He's only 20 years old and if he keeps this up, he'll go a long way.
Well, I just had to share. Our shop and two employees made a popular national magazine. No, not boasting (I don't think) just extremely proud of our guys.
You don't have to buy the magazine, just the next time you are at the store, stop by the magazine aisle and take a gander inside.
